You need a list. That’s a given. This is the most important factor in your long-term success. After it’s built, it’s yours to use any time you want. Just push a button and print money – literally.
So, how do you build a list?
Here’s what you need to build your list:
- Your Landing Page
- The Bribe
- Your Confirmation Page
The Squeeze Page – The squeeze page is the first thing your visitor is going to see. This is where they will enter their email address. So, obviously it has to be well designed. And have an easy to understand opt-in form. And your call to action must be clear!
If you fail to make a strong close, you’re wasting your efforts. This is a definitive message that tells your visitor what to do. And if you don’t include it, they won’t opt in. The funny thing is that people just don’t know what to do unless you tell them.
One way to really spice up your squeeze page is to make it a video squeeze page. This will grab your visitors attention and keep it. It also allows you to tell them what to do several times. And after the video, you can make it just say “fill in the form now”.
If you don’t know how to make video, don’t worry. You can hire freelancers to do this for you for a few hundred dollars. You can also find ready-made list building tools that give you squeeze page templates.
The Bribe – The second component is the reason they are opting into your list. People won’t give you their email for nothing. Most people are very protective of their email address. This means your bribe needs to be very attractive.
The only way to make this work is to provide real value. That means you make it something people would actually want to receive. And will be able to actually benefit from it. For example:
- A report
- A piece of software
- A video tutorial
- An email training series
Basically, you just need some content. And make it both helpful and informative. And nothing sells like “free”. Bottom line is it’s got to be worth more to them than their email address.
Once again, don’t worry if you don’t know how to create the freebie. You can just pay someone else to make it for you. You just pick the topic and they create the training. A 5-part email series is a good freebie. Each email will cost between $20 and $25. So, a great premium will cost you around $100 – $150.

First of all it has to give the subscriber what you promised – valuable information. It also has to generate revenue for you! One very easy way to make some money from your list is with affiliate marketing. Affiliate products are easy because you don’t have to do anything at all. And make money right away from your list.
The Thank You Page – The “thank you” page is the final piece of the puzzle. This is where your visitor goes after opting into your list. A great thing to do here is provide some immediate value. Then they feel good about giving you their email address. It also sets the foundation for your relationship with them. So when they get your email, they’re happy to hear from you.
Again, a simple solution to this is to get an email marketing package that includes everything. Or you can go the DIY route. And write it all yourself. Or pay a freelancer to write the content for you.
Final thoughts
It doesn’t matter if you do all of this yourself. Or hire someone else to do it for you. Or go with a complete package. The important thing is that you build your own list starting now. Because as soon as you’ve got your own list . . . You’ve got a license to print money!
